Romanian wine producer
Vincon Vrancea is
expecting an export boom
after the country's
anticipated integration
into the European Union,
local media said on
Monday.
The company, which
currently exports 5
percent of its output to
foreign countries,
estimates a rising demand
for powerful Romanian
brands with the EU
expanding to 27 members on
Jan. 1 to include Romania
and
Bulgaria.
Among the best known of
Vincon's products are
Beciul Romanesc, Comoara
Pivnitei , Vita Romaneasca
Proles Pontica, Cabernet
Auslese and Galbena de
Odobesi, Muscatel and
Golden.
The Romanian wine
market hit 350 million
euros (448 million U.S.
dollars) in 2005, with a
rise projected at 450
million euros (576 million
dollars) in 2006.
Local wine producers
sold 270,000 hectoliters
on external markets in
2005, valued at 17.8
million euros (22.8
million dollars).
