Customs Service Online for Humber Valley Resort Flights

Humber Valley Resort is pleased to announce that as of February 16th, there will be a true non-stop, twice weekly flight from London Gatwick to Deer Lake, Newfoundland.

 

As a result of intense lobbying from industry stakeholders and unwavering commitment and support from Premier Danny Williams’ Provincial Government, the Federal Government’s Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has reversed a decision to disallow customs service at Deer Lake Airport for the popular Friday flight from London Gatwick.

 

This decision eliminates up to four hours of travel time, bringing the flying time to 5 ½ hours.  The previous nine hour journey forced passengers and crew to disembark in St. John’s to clear customs.  The improved customs service at Deer Lake will undoubtedly lead to an increase in international vacationers to the region, which were previously turned off by the lengthy travel time.

 

This new customs service also opens the door for direct air access from even more international destinations in Europe and the U.S.  Due to the unwavering efforts of the Provincial Government and local stakeholders to realize this new customs service, both Western Newfoundland and the entire province will see the positive and sustainable economic benefits of this service well into the future.   For further information:
