Officials and local businesses
behind the property boom in
Bulgaria should take care not
to recreate some of the over
development concerns that
affected some parts of Spain,
according to one expert.
Nikolai Chavdarov, a
documentary maker, said that
Bulgarian property still
remains a "lucrative"
prospect, thanks to the
"gorgeous, relatively
well-preserved nature" of the
country.
Writing for the Guardian, the
Sofia-based expert explained
that there are concerns about
the risk of over development,
although he reflected that
there were similar worries in
Prague, where in fact foreign
investment helped to boost
both prices and the quality of
construction. In respect of
Bulgaria, Mr Chavdarov noted:
"Let's hope that there will be
balance between the reality of
the profit seeking and the
rule of reasonable urban and
rural development." Mr
Chavdarov also said that
Bulgarian properties can offer
buyers a mix of a "really cool
view" and cheap daily air
travel.
In other news concerning
Bulgaria, the nation is
currently hosting George W
Bush, the US president, as
part of his week-long tour of
Europe. While visiting
Bulgarian statesmen, President
Bush thanked the country for
its cooperation with the US.
