Ireland In The Sun Ltd., a
business consortium lead by
Raymond Norton,
of Larionovo, Ireland’s
leading overseas property
investment specialists, today
(Thursday, 15th
March 2007), announced that
they have purchased the
“Island of Ireland” which is
part of The World project for
€20m. The other investors in
the consortium are Galway
based businessman and property
developer, John O’Dolan of
O’Dolan International, Noel
Connellan of investment
company, Crystal Partners and
businessman Andrew Brett.
The World project consists of
a series of 300 man-made
islands shaped to form the map
of the world and is located
4km off the coast of Dubai.
The Island of Ireland measures
5.3
acres, which is
22,000 sq metres (25sq ft).

When complete the
Island of Ireland will include
a collection of homes,
apartments, resorts,
restaurants and retail amidst
beaches, boating and leisure
opportunities. The overall
project is currently being
designed and the details of
the entire project will be
announced at a VIP launch
party on Thursday, 3rd
May 2007.
Raymond Norton, Project Leader
for Ireland In The Sun said: “The
World is one of the most
innovative developments I have
ever seen and I admire the
vision that is behind this
project. The islands are truly
spectacular and we look
forward to developing Ireland
which will provide the Irish
home owner with their very own
place they can call home in
the sun.”
Over the past two years,
intensive planning, research
development and design has
taken place before The World
was formerly announced. The
entire project measures
approximately 9 km in width by
7 km in length. The
development covers over 593
million square feet and is
visible to the naked eye from
space.
State builder, Nakheel, which
is developing over $30 billion
of real estate in Dubai, is
constructing the islands.
The event coincided with an
announcement that 90 percent
of the islands of The World
have been reclaimed, with only
10 percent remaining prior to
completion.
Today, the other investors of
the project John O’Dolan and
Andrew Brett were on the
island of Ireland in Dubai to
present a crystal bowl of
shamrock to a representative
from state builder Nakheel. To
celebrate the announcement an
Irish flag was raised on the
island of Ireland at 12noon (UCT/GMT
+4hrs).
