Consumers Look Overseas As Irish Investment Property Market Slows

Investment Property Advisory Summit Returns To City West 25th May 2007

The organisers of Ireland's largest independent Foreign Investment Property Show announced today that the Investment Property Advisory Summit will return by popular demand in May.

Leading experts in the fields of economics, tax, law and investment will make detailed presentations and outline case studies to a number of professional advisors from several  relevant disciplines attending the summit at the City West Hotel on the 25th May. The goal of the summit is to provide a consultative platform for property, financial and legal intermediaries as well as an open forum to discuss what lies ahead for Irish investors in overseas markets.

Guest Speaker, Jim Power, Chief Economist, Friends First, stated “As the domestic market continues to adjust, many Irish investors will look further afield for opportunities to spend surplus funds in growth areas. Particularly popular amongst investors will be foreign property. In 2007 this could exceed 10 billion Euro being put into both residential and commercial properties.  The symposium, announced today, provides advisors with the perfect opportunity to get up to speed on market trends and future prospects for investment in various geographic regions while at the same time providing down to earth advice on the tax and legal issues which intermediaries must be familiar with to advise clients professionally and with confidence.”

Many of those attending the conference are responsible for providing consumers (their clients) with independent legal, tax and title advice in whichever jurisdiction they are purchasing.

Conor Leech, Investment Property Show Organiser, commented ” This market is set to continue to grow and it is important that everyone involved should better understand the markets both at home and abroad.  Considerable time will be given over to discussing where the best returns can be expected in the coming years, with case studies and top tips provided. Acquisition and recurring costs, tax, inheritance and legal issues, syndication and commercial versus residential property matters will be addressed. This conference is designed to provide a forum for everyone in the industry to pool their experience and resources for the benefit of the consumer.”

Many of the larger institutions have teams dedicated to keeping up to speed with the various markets but many of the smaller operators don't have the time or resources to dedicate to this area. This event is the perfect opportunity for both the large institutions and smaller independent advisors, from all disciplines, to get together and pool resources. This conference will cover many very important issues and will aid those in attendance to acquire an understanding of the risks and opportunities associated with this growth industry.

Hosted by John Bowman the guest speakers include, amongst others, Jim Power, Chief Economist, Friends First; Diarmaid Condon, Independent Property Consultant and Journalist; Tim Rahilly, Director – Tax & Legal Services, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC); Nick Powlesland, Head of European Valuation, Knight Frank and  Henry Davis, Managing Director, International Property.
